MISENHEIMER- Gray Stone Day School proudly hosted the 2nd annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on November 6 in celebration of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday.
More than 60 veterans attended the heartfelt event, joined by family members who are students at the school.
The breakfast, prepared and served by students representing various community service clubs, provided a warm and welcoming space for students, staff, and community members to express gratitude to those who served in the United States Armed Forces.
Among the attendees was Mr. Jim Deal, a 103-year-old World War II veteran, who expressed his delight at being part of the celebration and visiting with students and fellow veterans.
Also present was North Carolina House Representative Cody Honeycutt, who represents Stanly and Montgomery counties.
Representative Honeycutt addressed the veterans thanking them for their service and pledging to make North Carolina the friendliest state in the country for veterans.
Helen Nance, chief administrative officer at Gray Stone, welcomed attendees and thanked the veterans for their sacrifice to our country.
It’s important for our students to understand the meaning of Veterans Day while allowing our school community to personally connect with those who have defended our freedoms.”
Gray Stone Day School is a regional charter school for grades 6-12 and free to attend.
