National Honor Society taps 23 new inductees

Twenty-three outstanding students were officially inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) during a ceremony held in the Bud Singletary gymnasium at Gray Stone Day School on October 20. The event celebrated the academic achievements of the newest members of one of the nation’s most prestigious student organizations. Founded in 1921, the National Honor Society recognizes students who excel in the organizations four pillars of service, character, leadership and scholarship. Membership is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student and is a testament to years of hard work and dedication.

The ceremony was attended by school administrators, teachers, families and fellow students. Two-year member Wes Rummage, welcomed guests and introduced high school principal, Dr. Melissa Smith. 2023 Gray Stone graduate and former NHS member, Annika Schneider was the guest speaker. Officers London Gray, Natalie Niederer, Vinny Rinaggio and Courtney Vang presented the new inductees and led the ceremony’s administration of the honor society pledge.

The 2025-2026 new inductees are: Morgan Burnside, Brody Campbell, Piper Campbell, Makayla Cauble, Lois Chaney, Ella Cumming, Gianluca DeMary, Alexis Dry, Nick Eppiheimer, Emma Faust, Breanna Freeman, Dara Lash, Sofia Martinez, Lilly McClellan, Teddy Morton, Caleb Olis, Kate Preslar, Danica Rosa, Gabi Schoch, Isaac Sharp, Cooper Thomason, Ellie Walters, and Zoey Waters.

Two-year members are: Erin Auguston, Amelia Barney, John Bristol, Addy G Carter, Jasmine David, Jason Eudy, London Gray, Suzana Hoffman, Matthew Lappin, Anna Morgan, Mark Morton, Polly Nantz, Natalie Niederer, Auden Pethel, Aly Plowman, Camdyn Plyler, Vinny Rinaggio, Wes Rummage, Avery Smith, Donovan Tucker, Gabe Young, Courtney Vang, Anthony Varbanov and Ben Wallmann.

“We celebrate this tremendous honor with you all and we are so proud to see you take on this responsibility and continue the tradition of excellence at Gray Stone Day School. This honor not only reflects your academic achievements, but also the integrity, leadership and dedication that you demonstrate every day as a Gray Stone student,” said Dr. Melissa Smith, principal.

Immediately following the ceremony, a small reception was held for students and families.

Gray Stone Day School is a public charter school for grades 6-12 and is free to attend.
