ADMISSIONS

You may still apply for the 2008-2009 school year; however, at this time Gray Stone Day School has reached the state allotted maximum enrollment figure.  We are forming a waiting list to which all new applications will be added when they are completed in their entirety.  As incoming students withdraw applications and current students elect to transfer, openings will occur.  Please contact the office with any questions.

Applications for the 2009-2010 school year are being accepted.  The deadline for receiving applications for the 2009-2010 school year will be December 1st.  If a lottery is necessary, it will be held on December 5th, 2008.  For more information regarding the NC Charter School acceptance policies and procedures as they relate to Gray Stone Day School, please see below or contact the office.

We strongly encourage prospective students to shadow currently enrolled students.  If you would like to set up a time to spend a whole day or half day with us to experience Gray Stone, please complete an Application to Shadow and return it to the office at least 48 hours prior to your desired date.

The following procedure is required by North Carolina charter school law should more students apply than there are places available:

If the number of completed applications received by the application deadline exceeds the capacity of the school by program, class, grade level, or building, then students will be admitted into that particular program, class grade level, or building by lottery held within the first two weeks of December.

The following exceptions to the lottery and admissions policy may be made every year:

(1)  Children of the school's principal, teachers, or staff will be given admission priority.  If any new teacher is hired for the coming year of operation later than the lottery date, his or her children may also be given admission priority for any program, class, grade level, or building, which is not already full.  If the child of a teacher is put on the waiting list, that child will be given first notice and opportunity for enrollment for any openings that occur in the program, class, grade level, or building.

(2)  Siblings of currently enrolled students may be given admission priority provided the sibling's application is on file prior to the deadline.

If the number of complete applications received by the annual lottery date is less than the capacity of the school by program, class, grade level, or building, the additional students will be accepted on a first-come first served basis until the school capacity is full.  If more than one student applies for a particular program, class, grade level, or building on a particular day after the annual lottery date and on that particular day the capacity is exceeded, then a daily lottery of that day's applications for the particular program, class, grade level, or building will be held in order to determine admission.  A waiting list will be established whenever a capacity is exceeded and the students on the list will be contacted in the order received if and when openings occur.

All students enrolling in the school will automatically be entitled to admission in subsequent years without the necessity of re-applying for admission.
