National Honor Society is a national organization designed to recognize outstanding students who have enriched their school communities. The organization focuses on four main traits and selected students must meet and maintain minimum standards in each of these categories:
The purpose of National Honor Society shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students at Gray Stone Day School. All Gray Stone students, including underclassmen, may participate in NHS service projects. Juniors and seniors are eligible for membership in National Honor Society. Membership in Gray Stone’s chapter of NHS requires a minimum weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher, along with activities that demonstrate commitment to leadership, character and service. Junior transfer students must complete at least one semester at Gray Stone before they are eligible for membership. Eligible students will be invited to join National Honor Society in early fall and mid-spring. Upon invitation, students must complete their Student Information Activity Form in order to be considered for membership. National Honor Society inductions will be held in October and April. The fall induction is larger and more formal. Parents are invited to attend induction ceremonies. All NHS members will participate in one or more service projects for each year that fulfill chapter requirements of ten hours of service per semester: meet a need within the school or community; have the support of the administration and the faculty; be appropriate and educationally defensible; and be well planned, organized, and executed. 2010-2011 Officers For more information, about this organization, please contact Mrs. Jessica Crum ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
