B.S. NC State University
Mr. Blalock graduated from NC State University with a Major in Applied Physics with nuclear physics (now called particle physics) being his area of concentration. He also had minors in mathematics and chemistry. After graduating, he did a short stay in the US Air Force, flying second seat. He never planned or dreamed of teaching but started teaching as a favor to a friend. He taught at Cabarrus Academy (now Cannon School) in its early history and did some graduate work at UNCC. He then taught and retired after 30 years from Albemarle High School. This will be his 9th year as part of the adjunct faculty at Gray Stone Day School and this year he will teach AP Chemistry, Chemistry, as well as Physics. He believes the purpose of Gray Stone is to not only to help our students get accepted to their chosen college but to ensure they have the academic background needed to allow them to be successful while in college.
He concludes his biography saying: “I have been very fortunate to have taught many wonderful students over my long teaching career and the Gray Stone students have always been a cut above the students from the other schools in many ways. I have loved every day I have taught at Gray Stone and hope to be here many, many more years!”
