About Us
State Employees Credit Union Scholarship Opportunity
The State Employees Credit Union (motto: "People Helping People") offers a scholarship of $10,000 total, spread over four years, to students planning to attend a NC public university. Gray Stone may select one nominee and one alternate whose names we will forward on to the Office of NC Charter Schools for consideration for this prestigious scholarship. Two winners from North Carolina charter high schools will be chosen.
To be considered for nomination a senior must:
- Have been formally accepted at any one of the sixteen NC public universities;
- Have outstanding academic achievement as measured by grades and standardized test scores;
- Have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity and community involvement, and provide Mr. Miller with a written summary of your accomplishments in these areas;
- Write an essay on the topic: Describe how your proposed college experience, within your selected field of study, will create conditions allowing you to implement the leadership and community involvement statndards of "People Helping People." This essay should be no longer than 2 pages, single spaced with 12 pt font.
Your summary of your accomplishments in the areas of leadership, character, integrity and community involvement and your essay must be returned to Mr. Miller no later than Friday, April 20th.
Please note that any student who is an employee or family member of a State Employees Credit Union employee is disqualified from applying for this scholarship.
