Gray Stone Homecoming

A Week Full of Events

By Raegan Perry

MISENHEIMER, NC- The entire school is buzzing with exhilaration. Homecoming is this week and each day is packed full of events. Today is the kick-off of spirit week; lots of Knights fans are wearing their “shades.”

Tomorrow is “Toga Tuesday”, a first ever in the history of spirit weeks at Gray Stone. The senior powder puff football team will be practicing on Tuesday as well. Senior and powder puff football team member, Megan Howard, says “We don’t plan on losing.”  Ella Bragg, also a senior, says “2008 the GREAT will DOMINATE!”

Wednesday’s spirit day is the college sports day. This writer will be decked out in Duke gear.

Thursday, the Lady Knights volleyball team will be playing at home at 4:00 and then the Knights varsity soccer team will be playing at Pfeiffer’s soccer field at 5:30. Students who have their lanyards will get in free. During half time of the soccer game, Gray Stone’s first ever homecoming court will be presented. Thursday is “Garnet and Gray” day, so the school spirit should be at its prime.

Friday is “gender bender day”, where the girls will dress as guys and vice versa. This is a favorite spirit week day among students. The day is appropriate because after school at 4:00, there will be a junior vs. senior powder puff football game. With teachers as referees and coaches, the junior and senior girls are ready to show off their football skills. There will be a male cheerleading section. After the game, the Lance will be putting on a cookout, near the Pfeiffer lake, that will be free of charge.

The first ever Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday at Eli’s in Albemarle from 7-11.
