Gray Stone Day School has collaborated with two organizations that provide unique opportunities for 8th grade students and high school seniors. Through a grant received by Pfeiffer University and funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., Gray Stone has partnered with Dream Builders Communication, Inc. to provide student engagement sessions for 8th grade students to help prepare them for the transition to high school. One of the nation’s leading consulting and training firms with over two decades of experience, DBC programs are second to none when it comes to student development, proper peer choices, stress management, measurable study habits, effective two-way communication with peers/adults, decision making, and leadership. Sessions began in January and will run through the end of the school year.

With funds from a federal grant, the school partnered with Launch For Students, a year-long series of events and programs designed for high school students to help equip them with the tools needed to manage their mental health in a constantly changing world. Geared toward seniors, trained staff host monthly events that create experiences to give them the information and skills to thrive, particularly for college and beyond. Topics of discussion include stress management and mindfulness, healthy relationships, grief, gratitude, managing intense emotions, and relational problem solving.

“We are thrilled to have the ability to partner with both of these organizations to provide our students with unique, quality programs that will help them transition to the next level. Dream Builders and Launch For Students both take pride in aligning with the school culture to create a complementary approach to supporting social and academic environments. Our students will benefit greatly from these resources and interactive engagement sessions that we as a charter school are able to provide,” added Helen Nance, Chief Administrative Officer.

Gray Stone Day School is a public charter school and free to attend.
